@Julia
Soooo 3-plying yarn is not possible without a wheel or what's up, Youtube? #spinning
@OldBrushNewPaper Why are all the hobbies I'm interested in so expensive? I don't want to buy a spinning wheel!
@Julia I can't speak to the price of one - I was *unspeakably* lucky to find one on the curb during Amsterdam's "Queen's Day" free market, for all of 25 guilders (which would be equivalent to 10 Euro).
I can try to light a candle (or various equivalents for this rather agnostic seeker) for you getting similarly lucky...
@OldBrushNewPaper I'll take the candle. I also believe in nothing but it can't hurt, right?
That also seems ridiculously cheap so congratulations!
@Julia *chuckle* Thanks for the congrats - of course this was... oh dear, the guts of 30 years ago. I guess what you hope for is someone who's done the buying, then gotten so sick of it that they'll part with equipment for a song...
@OldBrushNewPaper If they want a song I think I will get the wheel for free and get paid to stop singing on top of that 😆
I should have an eye on Ebay, I think.
@Julia it can be done on a spindle if you chain ply!
@TheOddPiggy Welp! I had a typo and accidentally DDG'd "chain play" and it was NOT GOOD!
@Julia hahaha, indeed x)
I think it's also called Navajo ply, basically you'll make a 3 ply from one single thread, it's a bit finicky at first (and I have a wheel) but it works really great
@Julia It's do-able, but sometimes tricky, given how one has to arrange the feeder threads.
